by Griff and the Grifftones from the album: The Best of All the Rejects

Track 5 from The Best of All the Rejects. One of the worst songs I’ve ever written.

A Letter Between Mother and Son

Son: Dear Mother, I meant to write you long ago and now I found the time.

Mother: Oh, my son, it’s good to hear from you again. You need to come back home.

Son: Sorry, Mom, I just can’t see that place again. There’s too much on my mind.

Mother: I know it’s hard, but I’ll still miss you just the same. I hope you’re having fun.

Son: I wish I could, but some days are too hard to face with the sunlight in my eyes.

Mother: You must stand strong. We all have our perfect days. But we all must sing sad songs.

Son: I’ve tried so hard to keep her off my worried mind. But she’s still in my dreams.

Mother: Close your eyes. You’ll fall in love again someday. You just have to take your time.

Son: In all my life everyday turns into dust before we’ve seen it all.

Mother: That doesn’t mean that we should look away from the Lord. He knows what’s best for you.

Son: Then why do I spend every second here all alone? Tell me what I did wrong.

Mother: It’s like I said, you’ll find that special girl some sweet day and then you’ll know I’m right.

Both: Now I must go. I should have mentioned this long ago, but time keeps moving on.
