“Johnny Jump Up”
The second in my series of Irish drinking songs for the holidays. I have fond memories of this song because my friends covered it when they had their acoustic trio, Empty Cup. Even though this is a traditional Irish drinking song this is based more on the Gaelic Storm version. From what I’ve gathered, Johnny Jump Up was originally made by putting cider in old whiskey barrels. The liquor that was absorbed in the wood would then seep into the cider and make it stronger.
