Commentary for the Album:

As with most of the albums I’ve done, this one turned out much differently than I had originally intended. After recording the much more personal and all around depressing Sad Bastard Ballads, I decided that this album would be more surreal lyrically and overall more upbeat and optimistic. While I feel this album is optimistic, it veered away sharply when it came to the surreal aspects of it. I also intended to get out my electric guitars and add distortion to some of what I was doing, but it all seems out of place to me. In fact two of the three songs I left off the album were left off because I didn’t like the way the electric guitars sounded and there were a couple more that almost met the same fate. As far as deviating from the more personal aspect of the previous album, I failed to do even that, as many of the songs here are about me, my personal beliefs, or exaggerations of something that happened to me. Early in the recording process I hated this album, but it eventually grew on me, and now I’m starting to hate it again. This will be the last ‘album’ I do for a while (more on that next year) and in that respect I wish it was better. But it is what it is.
